September of a presidential election year is an electrifying time. And this year, something special is happening in this country. Something we've dreamt of and worked toward for a long, long time.
We've put a lot of cracks in the highest, hardest glass ceiling in American politics, Harris. And many of those cracks are thanks to the work of my friends at EMILYs List, which has been in the business of groundbreaking and history-making since 1985. That's why I'm writing to you today.
We have Donald Trump, JD Vance, and the entire Republican Party on the run this year, Harris. They know their anti-choice extremism is deeply unpopular with Americans across the political spectrum. They're walking back their previous public statements and burying their voting records at every turn.
So here's what we have to do, in the final month before Election Day: We have to keep going.
Young people, who have fewer rights today than their grandparents did, are asking us to keep going. Doctors and nurses on the front lines of the fight for reproductive health are asking us to keep going. All of the fearless women who came before us — women like Shirley Chisholm and Geraldine Ferraro — would surely tell us: Keep going.
So no matter what the polls say, no matter how much momentum we've built, and no matter what the Republicans try to throw at us over the next 36 days, we must donate, volunteer, and vote like our freedom depends on it. Because it does.
