Scott is a mega-millionaire extremist who bought his way to political power, and has an anti-choice, anti-democracy voting record that's deeply unpopular with Florida voters. DONATE Here's everything you need to know about former Florida governor and current Sen. Rick Scott: He's a proud Trump ally and an anti-democracy extremist. In his first term as senator, Scott has voted with Trump nearly 85% of the time — a score that includes his vote to overturn the 2020 electoral results. He has never won broad support from Florida voters. Scott self-funded each of his campaigns — something a candidate doesn't have to do if their constituents actually support them. Even after spending $85M of his own money on his first run, Scott only narrowly won his races for Florida governor by about 1% of the vote each time. In his 2018 run for Senate, when he spent $63M of his own money, the margin was even smaller — only 0.2% of the vote! He wouldn't hesitate to sign a national abortion ban. Scott is on the record saying that if he were still governor of Florida, he would have proudly signed a six-week abortion ban into law. Rick Scott poses a direct threat to our democracy and our fundamental rights — but we can replace him this November.
