Dear Harris,
Early this morning, while many Americans were still asleep, the House of Representatives passed Trump's huge, horrible mega-bill
If passed in the Senate, this bill will cut $1.2 trillion from Medicare and Medicaid. At least 13.7 million people would lose health care, and 11 million will lose SNAP benefits — many of them kids. And it's all so they hand out even more giant tax breaks to Trump and his rich friends.
I honestly believe this might be the worst, most damaging piece of legislation I've seen in my nearly 60 years in politics.
Inequality Media Civic Action is launching an emergency push to stop this huge, horrific bill, and we're counting on your help. Will you make a donation to help educate the public and stop Trump's devastating cuts to Medicare and Medicaid?
Trump's so-called "big beautiful bill" is anything but beautiful. It's a disaster. Here's the truth about what's in it:
- $1.5 trillion in new tax cuts disproportionately skewed to the rich
- $700 billion in cuts to Medicaid
- $500 billion in cuts to Medicare
- $300 billion in cuts to SNAP (food stamps)
If enacted, this would be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in U.S. history.
But that's not all. This bill would also end the IRS's free Direct File system, block state and local governments from regulating AI, defund Planned Parenthood, remove taxes on gun silencers, increase oil drilling and logging on public lands, and much more.
It's the oligarchy's wish list.
Here's the good news. The American people overwhelmingly oppose Trump's plan. In fact, a recent poll found that only 14% of voters support cutting social services to fund an extension of Trump's tax cuts. That's why Republicans passed the bill early in the morning when no one was watching — because they know how wildly unpopular it is.
We're not going to let them get away with it. Inequality Media Civic Action is pushing out viral videos, posts, and explainers day and night to call out Trump's lies and pressure the Senate to stop these devastating cuts.
That's why I'm asking you today: Will you make a donation to help educate the public and stop Trump's huge, horrific budget bill?
Thank you,
Robert Reich
