Harris,
A Surgeon General without a medical license? That's not leadership. It's malpractice.
Donald Trump's nominee for Surgeon General, Dr. Casey Means, doesn't hold an active medical license. She hasn't practiced medicine in years. She abandoned her medical residency. And yet, she's being put forward to serve as "America's doctor."
Not only is that irresponsible, it's downright dangerous.
The Surgeon General is supposed to be the nation's leading voice on public health, offering guidance rooted in science, medical training, and real-world experience. But Dr. Means has built her brand not through clinical work, but as a wellness influencer promoting pseudoscience, conspiracy theories, and personal opinions dressed up as health advice.
Then again, her friend and potential boss, Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr., warned us all just a few days ago, "I don't think people should be taking medical advice from me." Apparently this caveat applies to his Surgeon General candidate as well.
Dr. Means has made headlines by:
-
Calling vaccine mandates "criminal"
-
Describing COVID-19 as a "Darwinian moment" for America
-
Promoting raw milk and dismissing hormonal birth control
-
Encouraging people to rely solely on diet and "intuition" over evidence-based treatments
She even said on the Joe Rogan podcast, "OF COURSE we should trust our heart intelligence and divine intuition instead of BLINDLY trusting 'the science.'" When a Surgeon General nominee puts "the science" in air quotes, we should all be alarmed.
Tell the Senate to say No to pseudoscience. Reject the nomination of Dr. Casey Means for Surgeon General. Demand actual medical leadership.
Qualifications matter -- especially in public health. The position of Surgeon General is not symbolic. It is a critical leadership role tasked with responding to national health emergencies, guiding policy on disease prevention and mental health, and restoring public trust in science after years of politicized health misinformation
Dr. Means has no recent clinical experience, no license to practice, and no demonstrated expertise in managing public health systems. Her main experience? Running a wellness startup and selling unproven glucose monitors to people without diabetes -- all while promoting her self-help book.
Now, she's been hand-picked by her pal RFK Jr., Trump's HHS Secretary, who says Means is the "perfect choice" because she rejected the traditional medical system.
That's not reform. Replacing trained experts with ideologues will not make America healthy. Instead it will undermine the integrity of public health altogether. This isn't just about politics. It's about protecting lives.
In a time of rising health misinformation, chronic disease, and global medical threats, the American people deserve a Surgeon General who respects medicine, understands science, and has the qualifications to lead.
Tell the Senate: We need a Surgeon General with science-based credentials -- not social media influence. Reject Dr. Casey Means for Surgeon General.
Thank you for speaking up for public health -- and for insisting that America's top doctor be an actual licensed physician.
