Harris,
It's time to take back strong gun laws -- and protect our kids.
The numbers are in, and the truth is undeniable: stronger gun laws save children's lives.
A powerful new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association - Pediatrics confirms what we have long suspected: when states roll back gun safety laws, more children die from gun violence.
After a 2010 Supreme Court ruling weakened local gun restrictions, researchers tracked over a decade of data -- and the results are devastating. States that loosened gun laws saw over 7,400 more child gun deaths than expected.
This didn't happen by chance. These were predictable consequences of policies that made guns easier to get and harder to regulate. We must take back stronger gun laws in our states -- not someday, but now.
States like California, Massachusetts, New York, and New Jersey acted boldly. They passed universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws -- and as a result, their rates of child gun deaths remained stable or declined. These aren't theories. They're proven, life-saving measures.
Send a direct message to your state legislators and governor. Demand stronger state gun laws to save children's lives now.
In contrast, states like Missouri, Texas, and Florida, where lawmakers gutted gun protections, have seen youth gun deaths spike. The pattern is clear: more guns + fewer safeguards = more funerals.
This is a public health emergency -- and it's being fueled by political cowardice and gun industry lobbying. But we still have the power to change course.
We must reclaim what has been lost. We must take back common-sense gun laws in the states to protect the lives of our children.
State legislators and governors still have the opportunity to stand up to extremists and pass stronger gun laws -- including background checks, secure storage requirements, and red flag laws. Let's take back our future, starting with the laws that keep kids safe.
Tell your state lawmakers: Enact stronger gun laws. Protect children's lives.
Thank you for being part of the movement to put children's lives before gun industry profits.
