This past January would have been its 51st anniversary, but instead, millions of Americans have been robbed of their bodily autonomy and critical – and sometimes lifesaving – health care. Now, without the protection of Roe v. Wade, Republicans are constantly attacking abortion access and other reproductive rights. Their actions aim to: Criminalize abortion. Punish those seeking an abortion and their doctors. Allow private citizens to SUE anyone who helps people access abortion! Plus, House Speaker Mike Johnson is rumored to be eyeing a FEDERAL abortion ban! And now, Donald Trump has a comprehensive strategy to attack reproductive health care on all fronts if elected to a second term – including a national abortion ban and the creation of a surveillance state to track women and their doctors. Last year, voters codified abortion rights into the Ohio constitution and rejected Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin’s efforts to flip the Virginia legislature red. And in every single state where abortion has appeared on the ballot since SCOTUS overturned Roe, voters have voted to protect reproductive rights! Democratic governors are fighting with us.
