This lawsuit could stop Elon Musk cold

We're helping take Elon Musk to court to stop DOGE's chainsaw attack on the U.S. government.

Harris,

Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) henchmen have illegally fired tens of thousands of public employees, undercutting Social Security, airline safety, public health, food safety, nuclear safety, public schools, and more.1

Meanwhile, Musk is pouring massive amounts of money into key off-year elections in order to save Republicans from voter backlash.

Much of what he's doing is flagrantly illegal. So we're helping take him to court to stop him.

Demand Progress is helping support a lawsuit filed by a group of courageous federal workers accusing Musk of illegally connecting an outside server to a key government database.2 This case could stop Musk in his tracks, but he's going to fight us tooth and nail.

So we're asking all Demand Progress members right now: Will you make a donation to help support our work, including supporting the lawsuit to stop Elon Musk from illegally accessing government data?

Voters are showing up at town hall meetings all over the country to express outrage at Elon Musk's sweeping cuts to key government services.

Among his latest targets is Social Security, the hugely popular program that over 70 million Americans rely on — but that Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, calls "the greatest Ponzi scheme of all time."3

DOGE's cuts have already thrown Social Security into turmoil. Phone lines are a disaster, with hold times lasting more than 2 to 3 hours. More than half of the Social Security Administration's regional offices have been shut down, and its website keeps crashing under the strain.4

Everyone knows that these Social Security cuts are politically toxic, so Elon Musk is tapping into his virtually infinite wealth to shield Republicans from accountability.

For instance, Musk just dropped a whopping $20 million into an important Wisconsin Supreme Court race that could give Republicans the ability to lock in control of the state's congressional delegation for years to come by gerrymandering district maps and imposing arduous voter-suppression rules.5

With your help, we're fighting back. The lawsuit we're backing alleges that Musk's team illegally connected an outside server to a key network at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), which is essentially the HR department for the entire federal government.6

If these courageous federal employees win, it will be a huge blow to DOGE and an important step to getting Elon Musk out of our government — but we're counting on Demand Progress members to chip in whatever you can to help see it through.

Will you donate $20 to Demand Progress to help support our work, including supporting the lawsuit to stop Elon Musk's massive power grab?

With gratitude,

The team at Demand Progress Action
