While we were asleep on Thursday, Republicans in Congress successfully passed their terrible budget bill that will cut taxes for the billionaire class at the expense of working families.
The "One Big Beautiful Bill" will extend Trump's 2017 tax cuts for the wealthiest few, cut Medicaid and SNAP by nearly $1 TRILLION, throw 13 million people off their health insurance, end federal Pell Grants for more than 1 million college students, drastically roll back clean energy protections, and more — just to cut taxes even more for people like Elon Musk.
It passed by a single vote, 215-214, just one day after another Democratic Congressman sadly passed away. So far this year, three sitting Democratic House members have died in office – enough to stop this bill from passing.
Imagine if aging Democrats in Congress passed the torch to the next generation instead of dying in office?
The Democratic Party has long had a gerontocracy problem — they need to admit it and clean house if they want to stop Trump and the GOP's far-right assault on our democracy and working-class people. If they won't step down for the good of the Party and country, then they deserve to be challenged at the ballot box.
Justice Democrats is taking on out-of-touch Democrats in the 2026 primaries by recruiting and supporting a new generation of working-class progressives, like Michigan State Rep. Donavan McKinney in MI-13.
