Harris,
Let's take back the $45 Million Trump wants for his military parade.
Donald Trump wants to celebrate his birthday not with cake and candles -- but with tanks in the streets, missiles on display, and soldiers marching in lockstep. The look is like something out of a dictatorship, not the United States.
And the cost? The Army estimates it at a staggering $45 million, including $16 million just to repair the damage to city streets from heavy military vehicles like tanks. To wantonly waste taxpayer dollars on such a scale is a real slap in the face to the tens of thousands of federal workers fired by DOGE, supposedly to root out "waste, fraud, and abuse."
This parade isn't about patriotism. It's about power and spectacle -- a show of force to glorify one man, on the public dime. If this parade were truly about honoring the U.S. Army, it wouldn't look like a page out of a strongman's playbook. And it wouldn't be held on Trump's birthday.
That's why we need to tell Congress to pass the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act, a bill to block federal funding for any president's birthday parade. Send a direct message to your senators and representative now! In America, the military serves the Constitution and the people -- not a politician's ego. But Trump, who dodged the draft and insulted veterans as "suckers" and "losers," wants to spend millions of our tax dollars on a vanity parade, at the same time he is firing veterans at the VA and slashing veterans' benefits.
It's time to take back our money -- and our military -- from being used as fodder for political theater. We've stopped a Trump military parade before. In 2018, public outrage forced Trump to cancel a huge, expensive, self-congratulatory parade he was planning for Veterans Day. We can do it again.
Stop Trump's $45 million celebration of himself before it rolls through our streets. Tell Congress to pass the HAPPY BIRTHDAY Budget Act.
Thank you for insisting that our military serves our people and our Constitution -- not the personal pride of a would-be autocrat.
