Otherwise, read on: Here’s the thing: right now, our nation’s biggest battles – from voting rights to reproductive health care and gerrymandering – are based on the ruling of state-court judges. And who appoints those judges? Almost every single governor in America (48 out of 50!). Democratic governors have made over 900 state-judge appointments, which is more than all of the spots on federal courts like the U.S. Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, District Courts, and U.S. Court of Federal Claims combined. These judges protect our democracy and serve as a backstop against unconstitutional attacks on freedoms and civil rights. Meanwhile, Republican governors are dead set on using their power to appoint judges who’ll take our nation backward. That’s why we JUST LAUNCHED the Power to Appoint fund yesterday: to ensure integrity in the judicial process and do what the DGA does best: elect strong Democratic governors. But to succeed, I need your help, Harris. You’ve proven time and time again to be one of our most dedicated and informed supporters. So I’m asking: will you fill out this short survey to help us create the best strategy possible for firing up Democrats and electing Democratic governors who will protect our most fundamental rights?
