The American Gestapo

Add your name to demand the immediate release of Rumeysa Ozturk and an end to Trump's assault on freedom of speech.

Justice Democrats

Harris,

Less than one month after ICE agents arrested, detained, and threatened to deport Palestinian activist and Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil for protesting the genocide in Gaza, they did it again.

This week, plain clothes agents kidnapped Tufts University PhD student Runeysa Ozturk off the streets, put her in an unmarked vehicle, and then transported her to an ICE detention center in Louisiana.

Just like with Mahmoud, there are no criminal charges filed against Runeysa: Trump's Secretary of State Marco Rubio says they revoked her visa and plan on deporting her to Turkey for her pro-Palestinian activism. In other words, for writing an op-ed in the college newspaper criticizing her university's response to pro-Palestinian student activism.

A tweet from Prem Thakker which reads "So the position of the Trump-Vance administration - and every member of Congress unless they explicitly say otherwise - is quite literally you do not have guaranteed free speech rights in America if you say things they don't like. That is the headline. Thakker is quoting a tweet from CSPAN which says "@SecRubio on detained Turkish Student: "We revoked her visa...We gave you a visa to come and study and get a degree not to become a social activist that tears up our university campuses. if we've given you a visa and then you decide to do that we're going to take it away.""

Rubio claimed he's now revoked more than 300 visas from international students and threatened to do it again and again.

Fascism is here, Harris. Under this administration, there is no freedom of speech. If Trump's administration can deploy their American Gestapo to criminalize, round up, and deport these innocent students for their political viewpoints, they can do it to any of us.

Fight back NOW: Add your name to our petition demanding the immediate release of Rumeysa Ozturk and an end to these attacks on free speech.

Add Your Name

In solidarity,

Justice Democrats
