Harris,
By launching a podcast built around conversations with right-wing extremists like Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk, Governor Gavin Newsom is handing a megaphone to some of the most dangerous and destructive voices in American politics.
These are not voices that deserve polite conversation or civil disagreement. These are the architects of disinformation, anti-LGBTQ+ hate, and authoritarianism. And they are being legitimized under the banner of Democratic leadership.
Let's be crystal clear: you don't dismantle fascism by debating it over coffee. You don't take on white nationalism by nodding along to it. And you don't give Steve Bannon, who helped orchestrate a literal attempt to overthrow the government, a platform to spew lies unchecked. Newsom's excuse is that he's trying to "understand the other side." But we understand them just fine. The real question is: why is he elevating them?
Giving platforms to bigots and election deniers is not courageous, it's dangerous and undermines everything we're fighting for.
Tell Gavin Newsom: Stop platforming right-wing extremists and start standing up to them.
Newsom's actions undermine every organizer, activist, and voter who's spent years resisting the MAGA agenda. He's giving airtime to people who would strip away our rights, deny election outcomes, and criminalize LGBTQ+ existence.
There's a difference between engaging in genuine debate and rolling out the red carpet for people whose mission is to destroy democracy.
The Democratic Party doesn't need appeasers. It needs fighters. We need leaders who punch back against bigotry, not ones who nod politely as it's repackaged for podcast downloads. We're not interested in "both sides" when one side is openly advocating for minority rule, book bans, and political violence.
We've got to push back now, loudly, clearly, and unapologetically. Newsom's strategy will normalize extremist views if we don't push back now.
Tell Governor Gavin Newsom to stop giving extremists a platform, start taking a stand.
Together, we can stop the normalization of extremism
