Bunny – To protect and expand the civil rights and civil liberties of everyone in our Commonwealth, we need to pass better laws. That means the ACLU's work on Beacon Hill is a crucial pillar of its mission. But, you don't need to be the ACLU to lobby your lawmakers! The Legislature can seem like a complex and intimidating thing, but lawmakers are just people – and "lobbying" is just a fancy word for having a conversation with those people about something that's important to you. And, we can help you start those conversations!
At our next Advocates Academy event on Tuesday, April 22, we will discuss how to schedule a lobby meeting, how to prepare for your visit, and best practices when speaking with your legislators. We'll also review some of the ACLU's top legislative priorities. Following the training, we're happy to work with you one-on-one and help you and others from your legislative district get set up for a lobby visit! Lawmakers need to hear from a wide range of voices on any given issue, so we can't do this work alone! With so much chaos at the federal level, it's even more important to focus our efforts on state and local advocacy. If you want to help, join us on Tuesday, April 22! In solidarity, ACLU of Massachusetts |
