U.S. Senate Republicans are so determined to cut taxes for the rich that they're willing to pay for it by slashing essential services and safety net programs, like Medicaid and food assistance.
And they've even admitted that they're willing to break Senate rules to do so. Here's how:
Following typical budget rules, if Senate Republicans wanted to cut taxes by more than $5 trillion over the next decade, they would have to find long-term spending cuts that cover the cost of that plan. So to get around that rule, they asked the Senate Budget Committee — chaired by Republican Lindsey Graham — to provide a false estimate claiming that their tax cuts will only cost $1.5 trillion. This is blatant corruption, Harris.
We can't let them keep getting away with this chaos and corruption. Democrats only need to pick up four seats to flip control of the Senate next year. Let's show Republicans that we won't stand for them selling out to billionaire backers and taking away our essential services.
Democratic pro-choice women will be the key to securing the next U.S. Senate majority, and here at EMILYs List, we're laying the groundwork to make that happen.
