This bill is terrifying

The House just voted to remove one of the last checks on Trump's authoritarianism.

Harris,

The one meaningful check on Donald Trump's unconstitutional rampage so far has been the federal courts.

But the House of Representatives just passed legislation that would remove even that constraint on Trump's power by stripping federal judges of the authority to issue nationwide injunctions blocking his illegal actions.1

Now the bill, titled H.R. 1526, goes to the Senate, and this could be our last chance to stop it.

Demand Progress has mobilized tens of thousands of people against this awful bill. Now we must ramp up our efforts before it's too late.

As a candidate, Donald Trump openly bragged that he would be a "dictator on day one" and impose the "termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution."2

Far too many brushed aside these threats as a "joke," but it's clear three months into this authoritarian nightmare that Trump was deadly serious all along.

The one branch of government that has largely upheld its duty to the U.S. Constitution is the federal judiciary. Now Trump's MAGA minions in Congress want to cut off judges at the knees as well.

This is a fight that we absolutely cannot afford to lose. Will you donate $20 to help support our work, including our efforts to stop Trump's attack on the federal judiciary?

With gratitude,

The team at Demand Progress Action
