Let’s take a look at how we got here, Harris: FIRST: Trump-appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy enacted a 10-year plan for the USPS. This plan has slowed mail delivery, closed post offices, cut more than 50,000 jobs, and raised the price of stamps MULTIPLE times – 36% since 2019! And the USPS STILL expects to lose $6.3 billion in 2024. THEN: U.S. Senators and the Postal Regulatory Commission became fed up with the chronic conditions plaguing the USPS under Postmaster General Louis DeJoy – so much so that Senators held a hearing to investigate its abysmal performance. During the hearing, lawmakers voiced their biggest concerns: including that DeJoy’s failures could disrupt mail-in ballot voting in November’s elections! NOW: The USPS Board of Governors – the ONLY governing body that can FIRE DeJoy – is meeting TOMORROW for their quarterly public meeting!!
