Harris,
Republicans held the U.S. House majority this cycle, but just barely — next year, they will hold the narrowest congressional majority since Hawaii and Alaska became states more than 50 years ago.
That means we only need to flip three House seats in 2026 to take back the chamber. And we're already laying the groundwork to make that happen.
Democratic pro-choice women will be the key to securing the next U.S. House majority. Donate now and have every dollar MATCHED and support EMILYs List women from the very beginning of their campaigns:
If we take back the House next cycle, that majority will go a long way toward restraining the extremist agenda of the incoming Trump administration (just like it did in 2018). Here's our game plan to win back the majority in 2026 with Democratic pro-choice women:
- Recruitment: At this moment, there are 2026 candidates out there who haven't even decided to run yet. That's why we've got EMILYs List regional staff deployed all across the country to scout Democratic pro-choice women who want to make a difference in their communities and shape the national conversation around Democratic values in 2026.
- Building campaigns: We're already kicking off resume drops and organizing workshops for new and returning campaign staff, as part of our tried-and-true recruitment and training process to ensure our candidates have the strongest teams behind them.
- Investing in incumbents: We know that early money is absolutely crucial to our candidates, because that's how they build the foundation to raise even more money down the line (in fact, it's in our name: Early Money Is Like Yeast!). That's why we're identifying which of our incumbents will need the most support to hold their seats next cycle and making a plan to get them the resources they need.
I know that our candidates can take back the House next cycle. Why? Because EMILYs List women won some of the toughest House races of 2024. Janelle Bynum (OR-05) and Laura Gillen (NY-04) flipped red seats, unseating staunch MAGA extremists. Rep. Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08) won her Trump +2 district by a whopping seven points. And pro-choice champions like Reps. Emilia Sykes (OH-13) and Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (WA-03) held their ground in some of the toughest races of the cycle — even as billionaires like Elon Musk poured millions into their opponents' campaigns.
Make no mistake: the path ahead will be tough, and Republicans will throw everything they have at us. But with the support of this community, we can prepare the next generation of EMILYs List women to fight the toughest battles of 2026 — and WIN. Donate toward our $200,000 End-of-Year goal before midnight on Dec. 31, and your gift will be DOUBLED to help TAKE BACK the House next cycle:
