Bunny – We wanted to share this message with you one more time in case you haven't had a chance to contact your state lawmakers on these issues. At a time when the Trump administration is trying to scare our communities into submission, it's imperative that Massachusetts leaders stand up to his bullying tactics and assert our values loudly and proudly.
The bullies in the White House need to know that we won't be intimidated, and our lawmakers need to know that we're counting on them to be our champions – now more than ever. In solidarity, ACLU of Massachusetts |
Bunny – Within hours of taking office, Donald Trump made good on his promises to undermine our basic rights and spread fear in our communities. In the face of this chaos, we must assert our Massachusetts values and protect our most vulnerable neighbors. Lawmakers on Beacon Hill are back for another session, and the time to sponsor new legislation is now. We need your help to secure endorsements of two priority bills that will protect Bay Staters and our values.
The Location Shield Act (HD2965/SD501) would ban the sale and trade of cellphone location data, thereby protecting our most sensitive personal information from the prying eyes of hostile state prosecutors, vigilantes, and extremists. The Dignity Not Deportations Act (HD3596/SD1107) will protect our immigrant neighbors by prohibiting immigration detention in state and local facilities in Massachusetts and ending the voluntary donation of local resources for federal immigration enforcement. Whether we're exercising our basic rights to seek health care, speak out and organize, or working to build a better life for our family, all Bay Staters deserve to feel safe and protected. Our state leaders have a responsibility to step in and secure that protection. State lawmakers have the power to limit the harm that Trump will do in our communities. Let's make sure they use it. In solidarity, ACLU of Massachusetts |
