I'll get right to it, Harris. If you haven't heard the news out of North Carolina, an anti-choice extremist running for the state Supreme Court is denying his electoral loss by asking the state to throw out more than 60,000 ballots. Not one, but two recounts have confirmed that pro-choice champion Justice Allison Riggs won this race.
Among the 60,000 ballots being challenged are ballots from Republican and Democrat elected officials, service members, and even Justice Riggs' parents.
Recounts are a normal part of the electoral process that allows for transparency and promotes public confidence in our electoral systems. Throwing out ballots a candidate doesn't want counted is not.
We won't stand for anti-democracy extremists trying to seize office by circumventing the will of the people. North Carolinians voted to elect a pro-choice leader to the state's highest court. Our job is to make sure that leader has the resources to win in court, too.
