Dozens of Republicans in Congress are co-sponsoring H.R. 569, an unconstitutional attack on birthright citizenship. The Constitution is clear: Americans born on American soil get citizenship. Tell Congress to REJECT H.R. 569. In the first week of the new Trump administration, Republicans in Congress have introduced a bill that attacks a bedrock provision of the Constitution: birthright citizenship. Republicans want to deny citizenship to Americans born on US soil to undocumented parents, and some with legal status. Birthright citizenship was settled as law over a century ago, when the Supreme Court ruled that Wong Kim Ark, the American-born son of Chinese nationals, was a citizen without exception or qualification. Right-wing extremists are spreading Great Replacement conspiracies, openly demanding an end to birthright citizenship to prevent diversity.
