Kennedy Jr.'s confirmation hearing for secretary of Health and Human Services. And it was EMILYs List women who asked the tough questions and exposed just how extreme this administration truly is. DONATE When asked about protecting access to the abortion medication mifepristone, RFK Jr. didn't just dodge the question — he echoed the rhetoric of extreme anti-choice groups and hinted that he may order the FDA to withdraw its approval for the safe and effective drug. He also refused to give a real answer about how he would handle The Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) — a federal law requiring doctors to provide abortion care in medical emergencies. RFK Jr. made it clear that, regardless of his prior stances on abortion, he's now more than willing to enact Trump's dangerous anti-choice agenda. But the EMILYs List women on the two U.S. Senate committees didn't let him get away with his bogus non-answers. Here's what they said:  "It is hard for me to respect people who won't give a straight answer to what they think on this issue in particular … What is clear to me is that you [RFK Jr.] and President Trump are dangerous to women's access to mifepristone."— Sen. Tina Smith (MN) "You [RFK Jr.] did not seem to know anything about EMTALA, even though I raised it with you during our meeting last week…Your lack of understanding really, again, was very concerning." — Sen. Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE) "If President Trump orders you [RFK Jr.] to take action to make it harder for women to get direly-needed health care, you will follow his orders." — Sen.
