Harris,
On this day last year, Justice Democrats helped launch the Reject AIPAC coalition, a broad alliance of progressive groups committed to taking on the American Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and its affiliated dark money Super PACs that lobby Congress for unconditional support for Israel while spending hundreds of millions of dollars attacking progressive Pro-Palestinian candidates in Democratic primaries.
Over the last two years, we've watched AIPAC do everything in its power to silence growing dissent in Congress against the Netanyahu administration's genocide and ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, even as voters continue to overwhelmingly support a permanent ceasefire and oppose sending more blank checks to the Israeli military.
The lobby group's far-right network spent $126.9 million — more money than ever before — in the 2024 election cycle, especially targeting pro-peace Representatives Cori Bush and Jamaal Bowman in their Democratic primaries with more money than has ever been spent in a Democratic primary. AIPAC succeeded in replacing these working-class Squad members with weak, corporate-backed Democrats who refuse to hold the Israeli and U.S. governments accountable to federal and international law.
With the impact of November's massive Democratic losses being felt under a MAGA super majority right now, the Party must finally learn its lesson and stop relying on this toxic lobby network for campaign contributions. AIPAC's Republican donor-funded Super PAC is no doubt preparing to spend even more money in the 2026 primaries targeting the remaining working-class, progressive, Black and brown members of Congress who have led the calls for an end to US-funded genocide. And they'll keep spending millions protecting the same Do-Nothing corporate Democrats who work harder to defend Israel in Congress than defeat Donald Trump and Elon Musk.
We cannot let a dark money Super PAC that has endorsed 109 insurrectionist election deniers and over 200 anti-abortion extremists, and is funded by Trump's megadonors, continue to undermine our democracy at a time like this.
AIPAC's spending embodies the corrupt campaign finance system ushered in by Citizens United — giving billionaires the power to buy Congressional seats at the expense of the voice of everyday voters.
If our Party wants to earn back the trust of its own base, it cannot keep taking money from the same right-wing billionaire-funded lobbies and Super PACs that got us here in the first place.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
