It's been two months since the new Congress was sworn in, and Washington Republicans have wasted no time showing their true colors.
Their priority: giveaways for billionaires. On the chopping block: our health care.
House Republicans' recently passed budget calls for billions of dollars in cuts to Medicare and Medicaid—while their rich friends get billions in tax breaks.
Here are the stakes for patients. Americans will have to pay more each month for their premiums. Families will get kicked off their health insurance, threatening financial disaster if they get sick. People will forgo care they need because they can't afford it, and they will get sicker—or even lose their lives—as a result.
This is an emergency, and we need to make our voices heard. We stopped Congressional Republicans in 2017 when they tried to repeal the Affordable Care Act, and we protected our health care in 2018 by retaking the House. We can do it again.
With your help, we were able to win in critical swing seats across the country last year, restricting Republicans to a 2-seat majority in the House. Next year, we need to double down on these efforts to flip Congress and elect even more health care champions to put our interests ahead of wealthy donors. If you're in, can you chip in $5 or whatever you can spare to send a clear message to Washington Republicans: when they come for our health care, we're going to be right there holding them accountable?
