Justice Democrats is proud to have stood with Ilhan since she first ran for Congress in 2018. Together we made history when our people-powered movement elected Ilhan the first African refugee to become a member of Congress, the first woman of color to represent Minnesota, and one of the first two Muslim-American women elected to Congress.
Since winning her first election, Ilhan has been a fierce and consistent fighter on the issues we care about, from tackling the climate crisis, to ensuring healthcare for all, to achieving a true ceasefire in Gaza.
Now, she is helping to lead the charge to hold Donald Trump's administration accountable and fight back against the billionaire oligarchs who seek to take from the working class for their own benefit.
But the truth is, winning re-election has never been easy. Millions of dollars have been spent to unseat Ilhan over the years. We have gone up against attacks from AIPAC, far-right special interests, conservative Democrats, and Donald Trump himself.
And each time we were victorious because we had a committed grassroots movement behind our campaign — a movement of folks doing what they can, when they can, to win over voters and fight for the progressive vision of the future that Ilhan and all of us share.
