Harris,
Donald Trump announced right-wing religious extremist Mike Huckabee to be the next Ambassador to Israel, and the Senate vote to confirm him is likely happening this week.
We cannot overstate how dangerous this is. In his own words:
"There is no such thing as a[n Israeli] settlement" in Palestine.1
"There is no such thing as an occupation [of Palestine]."2
"There is no such thing as a Palestinian."3
Huckabee blatantly denies the existence of Palestinians, erasing them as a people with rights and history. He refuses to acknowledge the illegality of Israeli settlements built on stolen Palestinian land and denies the very existence of Israel's more than half-century military rule over Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza.
Huckabee doesn't support Netanyahu's far-right government and its genocide against Palestinians just because he's a racist and Islamophobe — though he is – but also because he's a far-right Christian Nationalist like GOP Speaker Mike Johnson and Trump's Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
This sort of dangerous extremism belongs nowhere near the White House or any position in our government.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
