Dear Harris,
Trump's latest anti-worker Executive Order illegally strips essential collective bargaining rights from over one million dedicated public servants. Under the false pretense of "national security," this order silences the voices of workers who have devoted their careers to serving the American people.
The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) followed up with "guidance" instructing agencies to dismantle union rights, cancel contracts, and shut down grievance procedures – eliminating crucial protections that ensure fair treatment for federal employees. Agencies were also told to disregard Reduction in Force (RIF) requirements, making it easier to fire workers without cause.
This is an assault on the fundamental rights of America's civil servants – patriotic workers who keep our country running. Trump's executive order is a blatant act of retaliation against union members who dare to stand up for fair treatment and against policies that harm working people.
The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) is fighting back in the courts, and in the court of public opinion. An attack on federal workers is an attack on everything the American people value most: our veterans, our national parks, our Social Security, and the most basic right of all – the right to stand up for our rights.
As AFGE President Everett Kelley said, "Trump's threat to unions and working people across America is clear: fall in line or else." AFGE's response? See you in court. This is why our amicus brief is so important: to ensure the courts understand just how much Americans value the work federal employees do for our nation.
Add your name to the grassroots Amicus Brief – a petition to the courts – supporting federal workers in their fight against Trump's dangerous power grab now!
Despite the President's claims, this order isn't about national security – it's about expanding his own power to control every public institution, regardless of the rule of law. From VA nurses to EPA scientists to cybersecurity experts, federal workers have always upheld their duties with integrity. Trump's move is an attack on their ability to advocate for fair pay, safe working conditions, and the services they provide the public.
Elon Musk and Donald Trump find it inconvenient that AFGE is standing up against their efforts to weaken worker protections, politicize the civil service, and cut the essential services that millions of Americans rely on. But let's be clear: a union nurse at the VA is not a threat to national security. This executive order is a threat to democracy.
This fight will be won in the courts, but we cannot afford to sit on the sidelines. AFGE is launching immediate legal action to defend the rights of federal workers, but this battle extends beyond any single union.
Trump wants unchecked power over America's workforce – where workers are voiceless and at his mercy. If he succeeds here, he won't stop. He and his billionaire allies like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk won't rest until all workers are stripped of their collective bargaining rights.
Join the fight and join the Amicus Brief to let the courts know we support our federal workforce.
Thank you for standing with the patriotic individuals who serve America every day.
