Dear Harris,
Elon Musk is on an unconstitutional rampage through the U.S. government, and now he's going after Social Security.
First, Musk unleashed a series of bald-faced lies about Social Security, including false claims about tens of millions of dead people receiving Social Security checks.
It's nonsense. Hogwash. Rubbish.
Then earlier this week, the New York Times reported that Elon Musk is pushing for sweeping layoffs at the Social Security Administration, which is already badly understaffed. Experts warn that cuts this severe could trigger a "total system collapse," leaving the 73 million Americans who rely on Social Security out in the cold.
I once served on the Social Security board of trustees. I know how this system works and how vital it is for the American people. And I will not stand by and let Elon Musk destroy it.
Inequality Media is launching a major campaign across all our platforms to warn the American people about what's happening and demand that Elon Musk keep his hands off Social Security.
Will you make a monthly donation to help educate the public and stop Elon Musk's attack on Social Security?
Social Security benefits cannot be cut without an act of Congress, and Trump knows that would never pass Congress.
So instead, Elon Musk's plan is to wreck Social Security by laying off the people needed to manage the system and ensure that checks are delivered on time. Even if a federal judge rules that his cuts are illegal, it could take months or years to repair the damaged system.
It's exactly the same playbook he's used to attack USAID, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Department of Education, and so many other key agencies, so we know this threat is real.
Ultimately, they want to pave the way to privatize Social Security so Wall Street can gamble with our retirement, and the only way they can accomplish that is by dismantling the system as it currently exists.
We cannot let him get away with it. Without Social Security, 22 million Americans would fall below the poverty line. Half of seniors rely on Social Security for the majority of their income. And contrary to Elon Musk's lies, Social Security has extremely low overhead costs of about 0.5%, far below that of private insurers, and less than 1% of all Social Security payments have ever been found to be improper.
Here's the good news: The American people overwhelmingly oppose cuts to Social Security, so we CAN stop Trump and Musk if we make our voices heard. But unfortunately, we can't count on the mainstream media to alert the public, so that's where we come in.
Inequality Media is launching a major effort across all our platforms to warn the public about Elon Musk's attack on Social Security and tell people what they can do to fight back. However, as a grassroots-funded organization, we rely on your donations to power all our work.
Will you make a monthly donation to help educate the public and stop Elon Musk's attack on Social Security?
Thank you,
