| Bunny, Donald Trump is attacking the Department of Education – closing offices, firing half the workforce, and now signing an order that would effectively shutter the department altogether.
This move puts millions of students' equal access to education in jeopardy. It rolls back the safeguards that protect students from discrimination. It takes needed funding from schools that serve lower income areas. It abandons children with disabilities who rely on the Department to guarantee necessary accommodations. It's Congress' role to decide whether or not to formally close down departments like this. And it's Congress' role to approve programs and their funding – including the very programs Donald Trump is attacking. Trump is abusing his power, trying to bypass Congress to shut down the Department, and leaving millions of students to suffer without fair access to education – and we can't let him.
