Harris,
House Republicans know their constituents are mad. Fighting mad. Their voters are so angry, Speaker Mike Johnson has advised lawmakers to avoid meeting them in person, and Republicans have cancelled all their town halls, terrified of the backlash they'll face for Trump's devastating budget cuts and mass firings. They know their scam is coming back to harm the voters they misled, and rather than try to defend themselves, they're running scared.
This is a moment of opportunity, a moment of potential Kazushi, when a judo master turns the tables on their opponent and throws them off balance.
Much as the far-right Tea Party once reshaped the political landscape by taking over town halls and putting Democrats on the defensive, now, the growing protests against Trump and Musk provide progressive Americans with the chance to do the same: to mobilize public outrage, hold Republicans accountable, and shift the balance of power.
Republicans can't hide from their actions. Their budget cuts are gutting essentials that people need: veterans' healthcare, infrastructure, Medicaid, and education. These aren't just abstract policy decisions; they are real blows to working families, seniors, and whole communities.
Send your message now to demand in-person town halls and make Republicans explain why they are dismantling the programs that keep communities afloat.
Instead of standing up before their constituents and explaining their actions, Republican lawmakers are ducking for cover. They must be forced into the open to answer -- face to face -- for the harm they are causing. But this would require courage that the spineless lawmakers, utterly unable to stand up to any of Trump's demands, have in short supply.
At the same time, Democrats must seize the offensive. If Republican lawmakers are too afraid to face their own voters, then Democrats need to step in -- holding public events, amplifying the voices of those harmed by these policies, and offering real plans to repair the damage.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez are already showing the way and holding meetings in Republican districts and calling them out for their failures. More Democrats need to follow his lead.
This is how we change the game. Republicans should be scrambling to defend themselves. By taking the fight directly into GOP strongholds, exposing the harm their policies are causing, and showing voters a better way forward, Democrats can reshape the political landscape -- just as the Tea Party once did, but this time in the name of justice, progress, and real leadership.
Demand action now -- Republicans must answer for their choices, and Democrats must take this opportunity to lead.
Thanks for stepping up and speaking up!
