This lawsuit could stop Elon Musk in his tracks

Elon Musk has taken a chainsaw to virtually every part of the federal government that does anything to help everyday people.

Harris,

Elon Musk has taken a chainsaw to virtually every part of the federal government that does anything to help everyday people — despite the fact that he was never elected to any office nor confirmed to run any department or agency.1

It's all flagrantly illegal, and we're helping to take Elon Musk to court to stop him.

With our backing, a courageous group of federal workers has filed a lawsuit accusing Musk's team of illegally connecting an outside server to a key government network at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) to harvest data on millions of federal employees.2

If successful, this lawsuit could stop Elon Musk in his tracks, but going up against the richest man in the world won't be cheap or easy, and we're counting all our supporters to chip in whatever you can.

Elon Musk's indiscriminate cuts are threatening airline safety, public health, food safety, Social Security, the environment, nuclear safety, public schools, and more.3

Among his latest targets is Social Security, arguably the most popular and successful government program in U.S. history.

Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) minions have forced the Social Security Administration (SSA) to slash up to 12 percent of its already overstretched workforce. Former SSA Administrator Martin O'Malley warns that these cuts could trigger a "total system collapse."4

Without Social Security, 22 million people would fall below the poverty line.5 But Elon Musk, the richest person in the world, thinks that Social Security is "government waste."

With your help, we're fighting back. The lawsuit alleges that Musk's team illegally connected an outside server to a key network at the Office of Personnel Management, which is essentially the HR department for the federal government, handling key personnel functions, like hiring and training new employees, managing benefits and salaries, and running background checks.6

Will you donate $20 to Demand Progress to help support our work, including supporting the lawsuit to stop Elon Musk's massive power grab?

With gratitude,
